The "Bos" is Back

Hello world,
Hope everyone has been good and busy since my last post.
Let me reintroduce myself, my name is Changa Gorham and
I am the TrafficBos. Since my last post, I have been
plugging away going through a complete 360 degree turn-
around. You see, after more than a decade in the auto
industry, I decided to change careers and get back in
school. Now that doesn't sound all that bad until you
what field that I chose to enter. My whole life I have
loved computers and information technology so I chose
that field of study.

Before going back to school, I had no real tangible
skill sets, though I had previously attended college.
That's what made this move so challenging, at first.
It also began to hit me that I probably had at least
thirty more good working years left in me...Did I
want to spend them building automobiles and car
parts.

To go from having the sole responsibility of making
auto parts to figuring out how computer operating
systems work and how different Microsoft applications
work was challenging to say the least. Even the day
to day attire was completely different, I had to go
from jeans and a t-shirt and gym shoes everyday to
slacks, khakis, and button up collared shirts and
casual or dress shoes. Now that was a change that
wound up easier than expected.

The technical stuff was next. If you are unfamiliar
with the automobile building process, it's pretty
simple, you get a job, you do your job, you go
home and come back and do it all over again. You
see now I have learn about control panels, device
managers, hard drives, routers, switches, and
the list goes on and on. Just over six months
ago I had no real skill set and not much to put
on a resume. I hadn't put much thought into having
to one day change jobs and what that might actually
entail.

Within the last six months, I have become a Microsoft
Office Professional certified in Windows Vista and
Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel. Currently I am
studying to become CompTIA A+ certified as well as
CCENT and CCNA certifications. These certifications
coupled with my aspirations to continue my education
until reaching my desired degree goals is what keeps
me focused each and every day.

Don't let the rut you may be in turn into a sinking
grave around you. Take on life's challenges because
you never know where they may lead you... You never
know, you might just end up where you need to be.

Guess Who's Back!!!

Hello World,

Hopefully everyone has been living life
the way that it is supposed to be lived...
FULLY!!

Well your friend here has been very busy
to say the least. In the middle of a career
change, I have been very busy. Coming from
over a decade of being in the automotive
industry the thought of going from manufacturing
to information technology was daunting to say
the least. For the better part of my life there
has always been a fire burning inside me to
pursue my dream of working in the computer and
information technology world.

This awesome transformation has been a very
challenging, grueling, yet rewarding experience
for me. Now I am a Microsoft Office Professional
Certified in Windows Vista, Microsoft Word, Microsoft
Excel, and I also a Certified Business Professional
through the IBTA(International Business Training
Association) with an emphasis on customer service.
Currently, I am studying for my CompTIA A+ certification
and my CCENT(Cisco Certified Entry-level Network
Technician)and my CCNA(Cisco Certified Network Administrator)
certifications.

Just saying ALL of that is a mouthful, so imagine
transforming your thoughts and mind to start to
learn how computers and software work. Learning
how information travels throughout networks has
somehow become very interesting to me. Imagine
that just over six months ago, I had no computer
certifications and not much to put on a resume.

Today's economic and social conditons are changing
at a rate on par or faster than technology changes.

Now that's fast!

My warning to everyone out there listening:

"Don't ever get too comfortable doing what
you're doing"

In the technology world, we have to keep current with
certifications and changing technologies just to stay
afloat and relevant. In saying that, when you are
grinding it out in your daily lives keep in mind that
making yourself more valuable and current in your
employer's eyes can lead to you maintaining a good
view in their eyes.

Mentor Studying feat. Li Ka-Shing

Hello and Good Day To You All,

Today I want to speak on Mentor Studying and why I believe this to be so important. The last time I spoke on this topic, I was writing about a little meerkat that I like named Shakespeare from Animal Planet's Meerkat Manor series on television.
Today, I would like to bring to your attention another mentor worth mentioning. As with little Shakespeare, I look to bring before you someone you might not know that much about, but he is still worth his weight in gold, literally. You see, Li Ka-Shing is one of the richest men in the world and definitely one of the richest in Asia and Hong Kong. We routinely hear about Warren Buffett and Bill Gates, but who else is out there..?? Mr. Li is a property tycoon and he learned english on his own and he came up from basically nothing to become one of the richest people in the world.

Now just because he has attained a lot of wealth doesn't mean that he is worthy of studying him. I look to see how he got to the status he is at now and what affects his reign has on the environment around him. Is he a charity mogul like the Gates family and the "Oracle of Omaha"... Part of studying a mentor should consist of looking into someone's moral fiber a bit and getting in tune with their ideals and views to see if they possibly align with yours. If you can sense some connection or you feel right then you might have found someone to help you on your path to success. Let's not forget that if and when we do find success we still need to be able to share and pass on some of the good we receive to others and knowing how is the first step in doing that.

Today friends we will discuss mentor studying. Mentor studying is the process in which promising understudies find and follow successful mentors. We have all heard that the secret to success is to see what successful people are doing and do a lot of the same. Well I like to take things a step further and actually "study" my mentors and see what they do over a period of time. Things to look for are things like: a) How many times a day do they send out e-mails??
b) What type of article writing style do they use??
c) Are they 'really' practicing what they preach??

Of course, these are but a few of the questions that need to be asked, but these questions will get you started in the right direction and help you get more of a feel for successful behavior and results. With social networking sites like Twitter it is possible to see the type of updates your mentor sends and receives, it can also shed some light on how your mentor is viewed by others. You should be able to see now how mentor studying can help you succeed and benefit your group!!

Amazing Shakepeare-Meerkats Rule!!

Shakespeare the meerkat honored in this video clip is a wonderful meerkat. I have been following these little guys on Animal Planet for the last year or so. He was indeed a mentor and an uptanding animal.

This leads me to ask you who is an upstanding individual in your eyes..?? You see one of the fastest and best ways to succeed online is to follow someone who is already successful and do what they do. To put it simply, you should follow and learn from proven successful people because results are what people want to see. Like the little meerkat Shakespeare, who shook off a double snake bite from a highly venomous snake to survive, we need to look to people who have actually been through the wars to tell the real truth.
